I tried to talk about it, but mostly I tried to distract myself and my emotions. What helped me most is my choice of movies. It was coincidentally that I ran across this specific movie about loss and love, in that order.
Silver Linings Playbook is a witty romance starring beauty beasts Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
The world will break your heart ten ways to Sunday, that’s guaranteed. And I can’t begin to explain that- or the craziness inside myself and everybody else, but guess what? Sunday is my favorite day again.– Matthew Quick, The Silver Linings Playbook
The plot is smooth but your heart will throb anyways at the moments between the two as they find love after they have both suffered major losses. The movie gives everyone who feels missing a string of hope to a better tomorrow. It isn’t your cliche romance where the characters are magically made for each other with an outside factor breaking them apart. On the contrary, the movie brings two broken people together and portrays love in their strife as a team to heal and build themselves back up.
Lawrence takes on her role perfectly, she even won an Oscar for it but I have to confess, Cooper couldn’t keep up. He did great at first until she hit the screen and you can’t help but notice how absorbed into her role she is. By the end of the movie, Cooper catches up but it’s a little too late. The minor characters add a little charm and many laughs all through making up for Cooper’s gaps.
The movie encompassed two things I absolutely love watching on my screens: mental disorders and love stories. Kudos to the scriptwriter and director because they did it perfectly.
